HOME Fundamentals Certification

HOME Fundamentals is a four-day course with Certification exam that provides an overview of the HOME Investment Partnerships Program, including key requirements for each eligible activity type – homebuyer, homeowner rehabilitation, rental, and tenant-based rental assistance.

To help participants make sense of it all, the course provides a framework for rules on a program wide, project, and assisted-unit basis and ensures that they understand the roles and responsibilities applicable to the HOME Participating Jurisdiction (PJ), its subrecipients, property owners/developers, CHDOs, and low-income beneficiaries. About the Exam: The exam covers critical information taught in the HOME Fundamentals Certification training. It will be given online while in the training room. Participants should anticipate spending up to two hours completing the online exam.

Who Should Attend: New staff and seasoned veterans alike will benefit from learning about new and ever-evolving expectations of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. In addition to topics such as income verification, dealing with over-income tenants, and lease requirements, the course covers the latest information on HUD’s Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) rule explaining roles and responsibilities for both Participating Jurisdictions and property owners.

Training Participant Requirements: Participant should bring their laptop to participate in training activities and to sit for the online exam.

Training Dates and Times: The training will be held February 10, 2026 through February 13, 2026. Day 1: Registration - 8:30 am- 9:00am Training 9:00pm- 4:30pm. Day 2: Training 9:00am-4:30pm. Day 3: Training 9:00am-4:00pm. Day 4: Q&A and Exam 9:00am-12:00pm.

Meals: No meals will be provided during this training; each participant is responsible for their own meals. The hotel has no restaurants on site, however, there's BJ's Brewhouse and Black Angus Steakhouse next door and 8 minutes walking distance away is the downtown Burbank area with 20+ restaurant options.
